William will be joined by orchestra and soloists to present the results of a multi-day workshop to realize Messiah’s Passion.
This collaboration with singers, orchestra, narrator, conductor, and director will tackle the challenges in William’s score for the Messiah’s Passion which you can read more about here. The group will be addressing the new interpretive opportunities created by his juxtaposition of Handel arias and choruses with the story of the crucifixion from Mark’s gospel.
The group will present excerpts from Act 2 of Messiah’s Passion including the arias ‘As with Rosy Steps’ from Theodora, ‘Remorse, Confusion, Horror, Fear’ from Joseph and his Brethren, and ‘But Hark the Heavenly Sphere’ from Semele. All these arias will be interpreted in a new context of the events of the Passion.
The presentation is free and will be followed by a question and answer session hosted by Jeremy Summerly.
